Just some clad and a small surprise on a beautiful day.

[WHADIFIND]

Just wandered around a favorite park today. Actually, I wasn't doing any serious
hunting. More of a walk, ya know? Still, found a bit of clad.

It's funny how an unexpected find always seems to pop up.

Everything was something before it became what it is today. So, it shouldn't be too big a surprise.
Still, kinda neat!

Sure glad these guys are pretty easy to make happy.

Thanks for peeking!

That IH looks a lot like the very first one I found. I was afraid to handle it because it looked like it would just crumble away. Nice going getting out.

A very nice leisurely hunt.

I see 186?, sweet indian sir!!!

[Loco-Digger]

Congrats on getting out and digging targets. Looks like a nice relaxing time. No matter the condition of any IHP I like em. Only found 2 so far myself.

[OBN]

Good job WHIF!! Love the IH! Whats the date?

Sometimes I get sick of gridding, and I just wander. That's usually when I find something good! Nice finds

Yeah and this one was much worse before I started. I figured, nothing to lose.

Yeah. Sometimes, one just has to kick back.

Yep, I'd guess the last number is between 0 & 9.
This thing was in much worse shape when I got it, had to do
some heavy cleaning. I was happy it gave up a date.

Yeah, I suppose I'm a bit calloused on these. I appreciate every one but I have found quite a few over the years.

Well, as Cjon pointed out, 186 ?
A complete surprise though.
By the by, I've fixed my sifter box and am looking for an easy hunt in the water as well. One where I'm
not having to fight so much. I'll be in touch.

I've learned over the years that every now and then it's a really good technique to sort of use a metal detector as part detector
and part divining rod. For me, this works very well sometimes. I'm not given to it being just "chance". Oh there are times when I go full on
archeologist too. BUT, once in a while. Ya know?

Thanks for the replies!

[I-DIG-IT]

Nice digs.

Nice relaxing hunt you had! Nice bunch of finds too!

I think those two are thinking - hula hoop?

My main hunting mode IS "meandering around", which I hope to do Sunday at a park or maybe a school I haven't been to in a while. No pressure now that I've breeched the gold barrier!

Nice old Indian! And a nice day for a walk in the park.

Any day with an IHP find is a great one in my book !

Funny. But, I try sometimes to wander "Where no man has gone before."

So, just why would I think I'd find something?

The indian head was a bit of a surprise and it gave me a good feeling about my detector too.
Even though I wasn't trying real hard, I heard this faint signal. Somewhere around a penny signal and pretty deep.
The coin was almost 8 inches deep! Now, I gotta say, I was a bit impressed.

Instinct and you don't know for sure no man has gone there before, plus once in a while God just swats you up side the head when he is trying to get your attention!

Happens to me!

Congrats on the IH !! I love it when you think you have a zinc penny and one of them pops up.

It's Bronze not copper nickel based on what I can see so 1864-1869

I was thinking the same thing. This one was really in bad shape when I dug. So, I figured I'd not have much to lose. You couldn't read hardly anything on it!
I dropped it in some hot peroxide, (a technique that works sometimes but it can be very harsh, so it's not my first choice). Anyway, it surprisingly gave a bunch more detail.
So, I did some more. This is about as far as I think I'll go. But, I wouldn't expect this result on anything but bronze.

Thanks!
