I just decided to take my detector out for a walk this AM. Figured I might find some clad as it was a pretty new school ground. I didn't get care. Just needed to get out. :)

BUT, what I thought was going to be a simple walk with a dig or two turned into an hour long job.

I was moving slowly along, enjoying the early morning. Dug a quarter or two, a few pennies a dime and 2 nickels. (AND lot's of trash!)

Then, I noticed where they had dumped a section of dirt from somewhere. Don't know from where. I passed the coil and had an immediate hit. I figured it to be trash and since this was just a pile of dirt, I really didn't feel like cleaning up a pile of dirt. (Don't I clean up enough!? :) )

Still, I kicked at the spot and out tumbled a quarter. LOL! Little did I know! I passed again and yet another iffy hit. Kicked again and another quarter, dime and 2 pennies fell out on the curb. Remember when I said things that make you go hmmmm? Well, this one did. After shifting the dirt around, this time without the coil, more coins! I went back to my car, put my detector back in the trunk and got out the screen I made for sifting sand when at the beach and a small shovel.

Armed with these and my pro-pointer I went back and sifted that ENTIRE pile of dirt! LOL

Below is what I found and the totals by coins.

One just NEVER knows!!! LOL

Thanks for peeking.

HH!

Very nice... Can't be mad at all that change

YES PLEASE!!!! Send me your dirt!! Nice haul, I will be lookin at dirt piles a little differently now. Thanks and happy hunting.

dang! that's crazy

I have never found anything in a pile of dirt. Not even freshly dug from an Historical site. Maybe I need to do some sifting.

Hey, close to 18 dollars an hour ain't bad work!

Dang. Thats just goes to show you, you never know until AFTER you've detected it.
Good job and congrats.

Awesome amount of change! Absolutely love it!!!Good job...:)

Sometimes people move skimmed top soil.... But dang that is a hall!!!!

Thats fantastic!

That's unreal, I've ran my MD over dirt piles before and once got a penny. Maybe kickin' it is the key :icon_scratch:

Thanks for the responses folks!

I tried to find out where the dirt came from but all I came up with was that someone saw some dectorist emptying their junk pouch out there. LOL!!!!

Naw, really nobody seems to know. It appears that somebody just dumped some dirt they didn't want.

Must've been the clean up from a carnival ground somewhere. LOL

HH!
