So found a small civil war "honey hill" last year. Hit it several afternoons and it consistently gave up some good finds. So last year the spot was growing up in bushes so I systematically covered it from both directions to be sure it was all covered. Well was in the area this week and decided to stop by and give it one more shot. The weeds had died and broken over so was a little more open but I was shocked! It was like it had never been looked over. So what happened? Did the freeze thaw of winter move stuff around? Did the fact that the ground was soaked from last weeks rains make the detector more sensitive? Did I just really completely miss all this stuff last time around? I did have the detector up on a pretty high discrimination so I would not pick up all the deep iron both times. Did my swing habits slow down since I was not really expecting to find much? Or did the relic fairy come out and restock the place over winter? I don't know but I sure was glad I stopped one more time. Makes me wonder about all the other places i "hunted out". lol IMG_3398 b.webp

Wow, that's quite a haul of goodies, congratulations! :occasion14:

Great finds. There is an old bus stop in my area that I've went over a dozen times but if I leave it alone a while I always find something old when I return. I guess it's a combination of all the factors you mention and a few we don't even know about.

I've done the same thing in many of my old hunting spots. It's always welcome when the "new crop" comes in!:laughing7:

Wowzers . for a second I thought you must have found the best honey hole in your area on your second trip there.but what might happen if you go back again.

Thawing from hard freezes and rainfall are a couple of factors which might help getting signals that were not there on previous searches. Thaws tend to move items towards the surface and rain tends to expand the electrical field (due to electrolysis) around objects buried or lost long ago. Congrats! It is unimaginable what you might find there if you turn the discrimination completely off.
