Ordered a Teknetics Delta 4000 on March 28, 2010 off of their website, payed thru Paypal. Website did not show item was out of stock. Got email on the 29th stating it was backordered. Sent 2 emails and no response. Got on line chat with them on their site and was told item would be in stock by the Friday the 2 of April or by Monday 5th of April. Still shows backordered. Attempted several emails to different depts on site and no answer. Emailed First Texas (manufactures of Teknetics ) and received immediate reply from them as shown below.
Needed unit for upcomming vacation, and if they had told me it would take another 3 weeks to get it in before it is mailed to me i probably would have got it from somewhere else just so i would have it in time. Dont know why they cannot answer emails and how the come up with allmost a 3 week difference in delivery time then from Manufacture. Thanks for letting me blow some steam off.

If you are talking about the DELTA package with Pinpointer and Carry Bag
or Headphones, these units are on backorder until the third week of
April.

The regular DELTA is available now.

Sometimes the personal service gets forgotten about when companies get big.
I've never dealt with them before but I've seen it before.
If you knew there was a 3 week lead, you would probably have clicked elsewhere.
Most will just "stand by" if they've already place the order.

I don't understand that they have a regular Delta in stock but not the package with some extra goodies. If that is true why don't they ship the detector and the goodies later? Also why couldn't they look up your order to confirm it on their own? I have read remarks about them from excellent to completely non-responsive (which was my experience by the way).

Too bad because it would be great to have an MD super store running as efficiently as they advertise. Just click and order with the in/out of stock status isn't that hard these days. Many items I still prefer to work with my local dealers to help them out. I don't care if I pay a little more since I get to talk to a live person. They don't always have the variety that KellyCo advertises though.

I wonder if there are deeper operational problems that aren't made public. Here's hoping it turns around.

I am not sure of the volume they sell nationwide, nor the stock amount they have on-hand. I also had to wait a month because the coil I bought was also on back order. I actually was able to make quicker purchases on e-bay As far a patience being a virtue, I am accustomed to making a purchase and getting my product in a timely manner. I don't like to wait a month as I would only have to amend my will to leave it to the next of kin, just in case.

Just me, but, I would have called their 800# and made sure it was in stock proir to the order. Instead of emails, have you called them to talk to them? If your needing it for an upcomming vacation, why not call them and talk to them, like 4H says try JW. See if the ACE 250 is in stock, cancel the order and get the ACE 250...As far as the goodies, usually the Goodies package isn't worth the cost of the shipping in my opinion.

If you order one of the SEF coils and they are out, you have to wait till they get another shipment from Europe since they are made there.

That was good advice, but this was the first time I bought from them and I didn't figure there would be a stock issue. In the future I would certainly give them a call and see if the item is in stock, or what the expected arrival time would be. I had no problems other than that to be honest, they are a reputable company.

I went in just to just look at the 15"x18" SEF Butterfly coil for my Sovereign GT, I was not going to buy, but after talking to them I found out that when they are out of stock it can take a month or more to get restocked. I had Kellyco hold one for me for 48 hours till I got paid that Friday, which they did. I then bought mine. There was only 3 in stock at the time and I did not want to be waiting....Basically I got lucky, I asked how many they had and how long it took to get restocked when I was there, or I would have been in the same boat you were in waiting.......

Well its to late to receive detector before vacation. I figure i have sent enough emails to company to get at least one responce. I understand things get backordered. My only problem was being told it would be in stock by a certain time and the Manufacture telling me that is not the case. Going to keep a running diary till i recieve it if i ever do. So today is DAY 12

Got email from Dan who works for Kellco at another metal detecting forum. Seems concerned about problem. Guess im just mad at situation. Like i told him should have given myself more of a leave way in getting it ordered in time but had to wait untill funds were available. Like i said i fully understand backorder problems, guess i should have just sit back and relaxed. Not the end of the world. Thanks
