Kennedy Half Dollars

A friend of mine wanted to sell me a roll of Kennedy Half dollars that are dated 1966 for face value.Did American coins still have silver in them after 1964?Just wondering if this is a good deal.

The dates between 1965 & 1969 are 40% silver, so if you can get them for face you will be way ahead. They have sold as high as around $2.00 a piece for silver!

Depending on how good of a friend you may want to offer more. Kennedy half dollars 1965-1970 contained 40% silver. The price per 40% today is about $1.94. Source:
