Key date silver found at the old park!

I went to a park that I only hunt at the end of the season. I hit this place hard last fall and did well with my buddy.

I didn't expect to find much... But I had a couple of hours to kill before my winter tires got put on.

An hour into the hunt, I found a Canada five cent piece... In rough shape though. I popped it in my pocket and continued on.

Once I got to the car, I noticed it was an 1875. I wish it was in nicer shape! 1875's are hard to come by....I know that much!!!

First post with my phone and I'm worried that it will try and post a massive image. I'll add pics when I get home shortly.

Cut copper It's a Georgius or Victoria. All I can see is the OR... I doubt it was cut for any commercial purposes. Lawnmower victim?

The sun is still up...keep digging.
I find myself often wishing for a bigger coin, or better condition, at least you don't have to wish for a different date this time.
Being able to read the date, without cleaning, from the ground, I'm guessing it's not going to be that bad.

Hard to say. Don't really see too many counterfeits of these so I would clean it as if it is silver and see what happens.

Nice looking place to hunt, a rare 5 cents for a near end of season hunt, pretty sweet.
I bet it will look better with some TLC.
Hope you get out again, maybe find her sister.
As far as sm date / lg date. there will be arguements. esp. with some wear as the date gets fatter looking.

What a great date to find, she's a rare one! The condition is a bit of a bummer, but at least it wasn't nasty digger damage lol...that hurts the worst lol.
