I almost found my new favorite point yesterday in my best creek. I was actually thinking on my way there that this creek was due to produce a killer point and boy did it! I almost died though when I saw that the tip was knocked off but it's still a nice point! I think it's a St. Charles which would mean that it's 8-10,000 years old...

Very cool point. The notches are punch style (early archaic St. Charles/Dovetail style) without the extra flaking, so it's probably earlier than I wrote previously. The impact fracture is also cool, that baby died as an atlatl point.

Joshuaream, I wanted to let you know that your initial comment on this point was probably right! I had this point examined by an archaeologist and he said that it is a middle woodland Snyders point.. He typed it that way for a number of reasons but the main reason is that it's made out of Kaolin chert which was used during this period...
