I found this King George copper in a neighbor's yard:

King George II copper.webp

I know it is a George II, but the date and back are very worn. Is there any way to date this coin by the bust? Is there a date range for this type of bust? Thank You.

great find. surely there are some coin hunters on here who will provide the answer shortly. congrats on the find!!!!

If Halfpenny it's the young head, 1729-1739.

Thank you for the info on my coin! Wow, definitely pre-dates settlement of my town.

Hey there, and welcome. Those circulated commonly in Vermont, and for a long time (into the 19th century). If that is your first, congrats! A great feeling...

Thank you for all the helpful info. My driveway is the old town road and my house was built around 1800. I have found 2 other King George II's near the old road in my yard, but this is my first with a lot of detail. I found a 1787 Connecticut Copper in my yard as well.
