I found these at an old home site that was torn down a few years ago. The knee buckle still pivots which is amazing to me. I've found Waterbury buttons before but first one marked Scovill. Same company? 20190729_230556.webp20190729_230614.webp20190728_181831.webp

Are ya still having a problem?

Thanks for getting back to me. I am still having trouble posting pics and staying logged in. Both are new phenomenon for me on my mobile phone which I always use for this. I will try with the desktop computer later today.
Thank you
GM

Nice hunt! A handful of keepers for sure.

Awesome buckle & button, congrats on the saves

Congrats nice find

Nice finds. Your buckle is definitely not a knee buckle though. Its Victorian era

Thanks for the info. What do you think it would it be used for?

I think it is a buckle for a waist adjuster. Does it happen to say Paris Solide on it? I have a very similar buckle that I was guessing late 1800s or early 1900s based on the site. Nice finds!

I can't find any marks on it anywhere.

No Scovill and Waterbury are different company's ... both were based in Waterbury Conn.
Your button "Scovill Extra Rich" back mark used between 1827 to 1840 civilian button... From (Uniform Buttons of the United States) Warren Tice.

Thank you for the clarification on Scovill and Waterbury.

First off congrats on finding a button that retains so much Gilt. I've found a few with gilt but never with that much. Very nice. The buckle: I've found a couple of those one did have some writing on it that made me think it probably wasn't something that dated back to the 1700's... but knee buckle was my first thought. Thanks for sharing.

I was stunned to see the gilt once I soaked it in lemon juice. Things were made to last back then.
