no real idea; although the hole/dent along the bottom edge is a somewhat infrequent feature in the area quite noticeable amongst "oddballs" found along the cobbles. am posting these pics for anyone and all to review :

Differential weathering of two different hardnesses of material. Completely natural.
 

your post are not artifacts, I believe there is a different forum on this site better suited.
