Almost sure it is part of a knife handle.

Flat steel with wood, (rotting), attached;
one end of flat steel shows where it broke.

Anyone know what maker use that symbol?

It could be an old Case...They used many different shapes on their handles over the years..

I had a knife of my great grandfather's once that was a case and it looked like that. Sadly I lost it years ago. Where did you find it??? LOL (I really did loose one)
