I just finished 2 boxes of pennies and have a sack full of the following years:

1969s
1970s
1972
1983
1984
1992 p and d
1995
1998
1999
2000...

Are there any more errors I should be looking out for? those who have knowlege of any more dates and the known error please let me know! Also, how common or how rare are the errors? what's the value?

Is it worth saving aside known error years to look at in pennies or should I just dump the roll when I open it to look for wheaties?

Here's a list of non-wheat error cents which I compiled from various sources. I doubt that it is comprehensive as there are new error coins being found regularly. DDO means "doubled die obverse", DDR means "doubled die reverse", MM means "mintmark", SD means "small date", and LD means "large date". The attributes listed after the colon are where to look for the error (for example, "1959 DDO: date; Liberty" means that there is a 1959 error cent with a double die obverse which is most visible in the date and the word "Liberty").

1959 DDO: date; Liberty
1959D Repunched MM
1960 SD
1960D LD DDO: date, MM
1960D LD Repunched MM
1961D Repunched MM
1962 DDO: date, nose, bowtie, Trust
1963D DDO: 3 of date
1964 DDO: L of Liberty, In God
1964 DDR: E Pluribus Unum, United States of America
1968D Repunched MM
1968D DDR: E Pluribus Unum, America
1969S DDO: In God We Trust, Liberty, date
1970D Repunched MM
1970D DDO: date (7,0)
1970S SD
1970S LD DDO: Liberty, In God We Trust, date
1970S LD Repunched MM
1971 DDO: Liberty, date
1971D DDO: In God We Trust
1971S DDO: date
1972 DDO: all obverse lettering, date

I look only for:

1984 - (doubled ear)
1992 - (close "am")
1998, 1999, 2000 - (wide "am")

I don't set aside rolls of these years. Rather I just look at them as I find them. If they don't have the error they just go in the zinc pile to be dumped. I haven't found any errors yet, but I have only gone through about $125 or so in pennies..

I have a 1959 D penny. The letter T in Liberty clearly says the number 7. I will take some pics and post it. Is this rare???

Chances are what you see is md. Generally when you see it on a number and mint mark it's md.

Welcome to the forum. It's also better to start a new topic when posting. Don't hyjack a thread.

I think sitman covered most of them ;). The '59D/D/D is a cool find and the 1960D/D large dates are also a fun find.
