Surf advisory in Kona Hawaii the last two days, so I went out this morning and hit the high tide mark and lava rock crevices. Hit a number of clad coins and a small diamond. The small diamond was only 1” deep. I have heard about pockets of coins or jewelry found in one spot. This morning those four clad coins (Quarter, two nickels, one dime) were all in one small lava crevice. Picture below. Note the nickel that is essentially deteriated. It doesn’t take long for the clad coins to break down.

Nice finds! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Great job do you have that beach to your self sounds like paradise. How about a picture when theres a full beach just curious trying to imagine how cool it is there

I hunt early in the morning from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, just prior to the crowds gathering. It’s been high surf warning the last few days, so only the bravest local surfers are catching the high waves. On a nice day, 200-300 people gather at the Kona beach daily. The first picture of me digging is of a Maui beach which I hunted two weeks ago. The second picture is our local surfing beach in Kona. I normally hit between 100-200 clad coins per week at the local beach. I hunt other non-beach areas in Hawaii hoping for a Hawaiian coin prior to Statehood.

Not sure why my pictures are not upright. Maybe too large?

Trust me that happens a lot with pictures on here. thanks for the pics Im jealous Mi weather is pretty crappy and were going to get a snow storm on Sat. I got a buddy and when it snows hes like isn't that pretty ? Im looking all over expecting to see some hot chick walking by but he means the snow. That would be awesome detecting in Kona drinking a Margoritta or 4 watching the Hulu dancers at the luau sitting in a lawn chair on the beach during sunset lol I need a vacation thanks for posting my Friend!!!Tommy

Tommy,

I've had the same issue with pics in the past and tried to correct them by rotating them opposite of their current pre-post position in order to compensate for the vertical post pic, but with very little results. Do you or anyone else know how to correct this issue? It doesn't happen on all pics, just one every now and then, Thanks in advance...
