Ladies Dress Clip

This is a Ladies Dress Clip that was found on the 1850`s goldfields. It was suspended by a chain from either the woman's wrist or wast and attached to the hem of her dress. It would be pulled up lifting the bottom of the dress and so stopping it from dragging in the dust or mud as she crossed the street. I think...?









It`s a girl thing, so must have been in use around the world at that period.

In all my years of digging and seeing 19th Century Victorian era items, I cannot recall ever seeing a "Ladies Dress Clip" or anything quite like this.

The artifact is very cool, well constructed, in exceptional condition, and I like it!!! :icon_thumright:
