I don't know, but a cool find no less, congrats, and welcome to the site!

Whoa...slow down there...not so much detail!

Google "copperhead movement" It's the bust of lady liberty cut out of a large cent. Interesting find.

Thanks! Wasn't sure it has one cent on the back too!

Agree. Id say from a matron head large cent.

Yes , there was another exactly like yours posted within the last couple of weeks I think - but I think they are the only two I've seen in my 5 + years on this site !

Seen alot of Merc head cut outs never a large. Nice find. Congrats.

Copperhead movement for sure it is only the second one I've seen. Hunting partner found on last year not as nice as yours thou. Excellent find!! You may never come across another. What part of the country did you find this rare gem?

Thanks! I found it in southwestern Pennsylvania

Barb,

That's a fantastic find for sure! Did u just start detecting or what? Many people that have been detecting for a while now have never found one of those (including me :laughing7:)! Cool find!

Thanks! I've been doing it for about six months and I've found a lot already! I love it(:

They both look to be braided hair, the last of the large cent series, 1840 to 1857. You can tell on Dutchtoga's reverse by the size of and how close the letters in ONE CENT are close to each other. Both are pretty neat.
