Billot would most likely be spelled Billiot pronounced "Bill-Yaht." Boutte is also common and most commonly associated with Boutte, La the area near what we Cajuns call The German Coast. Also very common to ref areas and surnames. Also the ending of a surname with the "lliot" suffix was extremely common and spelling often was changed to accommodate for pronunciation ease. ;-)
