Large ball button?

I’ve found ball buttons at 1800’s cellar hole sites before, but they had a typical soldered on shank like a flat button. This one, found at a dot from a 1906 map, is larger and has something else going on vs a typical shank. Any ID help? Thx

I would call that a two piece self shank and would say early to mid 1900's
