Large cent in Wisconsin

It's hard to find coins dating back to the mid 1800s in WI but 2 days ago I found this 1848 large cent while door knocking. I couldn't believe it when I pulled it out of the plug. The first thing I did was pull out my phone and message my brother "I just found a f^#*&n large cent!"

Any info on the coin would be appreciated!

For all of you Wisconsinites: What is the oldest coin you've found in the ground?

Hey Beige, I'm also from Wisconsin. The oldest coin I have found so far is an 1895 IHP, but I just started metal detecting this year. I hope I find one like yours someday!
