Large chunk of Civil War carved lead and a Washington DC transit token!

Only could dig for about an hour and a half. Did get these 2 things though. The lead is carved and was found where I have found a ton of relics. Ant this transit token is a first for me.

Not sure. I was told maybe around 1890. But that's an educated guess.
 
Thats a bar of lead.Thats how they usually came and a piece was carved or cut off and melted to make bullets :thumbsup:

This one has been carved down. You can see the knife marks on it. I have only seen rectangle lead bars. Were there other shapes?

We have found round ones and oxagon shapes too.In the early 20th cen.Lead was used on everything including water pipes.
 
Cool token!

Washington Railway & Electric Co was formed Feb. 5, 1902. Seems to have been in business well into the 1930's.

I've seen lead that was carved down like that in an attempt to make a pencil. I also found a square nail carved from lead at a old house site. That house site predated the civil war, was camped around and probably destroyed during the war.
