image.webpimage.webpFound this large flat button, measures approximately 33.33 mm ( if I did my math right). Has an intact shank and what looks like flowers stamped in the front. Found it at a late 1800's house site
Approximately 8 inches down. Don't know much about buttons, any info is appreciated.image.webp

Looks like a fancy dandy button. Given that yours falls into the 30mm+ in diameter and larger category, it dates to the 1770-1795 period, but were used heavily at least until 1815.

Thanks for the info! That makes it my first find from the 1700's.

Those are one of my favorite signs at a new site, so if you can find where it came from you will do well.

Pretty cool design too, I have not seen that one. Those over-sized late 1700's era coat buttons are normally referred too as dandy buttons. I agree with Iron Patch, they are usually a sign that you are at a good site when you find one.

Awesome button:thumbsup:, Coinman123
