large flat button

I dug up this button yesterday. I was wondering if anyone has seen something like this before, the design with the raised center. I'm not really sure what its made of either. Its not copper, it doesn't have the feel or sound that my other dandy buttons have. Any help is appreciated.

Ive never seen this style of civilian button before. Did it have that hole in it when you found it?
could be pewter.
