A coworker (AM-ARK) found this piece yesterday (2-3-09) in S. Virginia (approx. 4 1/4"). I believe it is a Morrow Mt, but not sure. Any help on ID and material would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....Mud

Looks like a Morrow Mountain to me and a really nice one at that.

Thanks....He's already rubbing it in my face that it is going to be the center piece of his frame.... Mud

Its a Morrow Mt (type 1) & a beauty too..

Molly.

He should since I am the one who posted. From what he's saying there maybe more to come...This time I am going to invite myself....Thanks...Mud

real nice quartzite morrow mt. I've found alot of that material through the years.

Thanks Mud for posting my point, its much appreciated. It is definately the nicest point that I have ever seen in these parts. At least it gives us hope that all of the nice larger artifacts are not broken. I must ask, I noticed that Molly said that it was a Marrow Mountain (type 1), just wondering the different types and its age? Thanks again!

There are 3 types of Morrow Mts. Type 1, 2 & the straight base, they are all Middle Archaic 5,000BC-2,000BC.

Molly. :)

Thanks Molly, just wondering, I'm not that good at point identifycation.
