First hunt at a mid 1800’s cellar hole netted a quick handful on Friday.

The token is a Pre-CW Hard Times Token used in the 1830’s and 40’s. Very delicate but complete suspenders clip and a neat mini claw.

Second hunt at an old abandoned farm site netted some buttons. (And a wick adjuster)

Some more buckles

Vintage make up tins

Then a tiny sweet high tone in the iron.

Superite Sterling silver mechanical pencil

Then I decided to hike over to the stream where the barn would have been along the old dirt road and got a great high tone with another token, 2 Cent savings token. I’ve found a 1/2 Cent and 5 Cent one before. Here are all three.

I decide to swing around the creek where the token popped and I see in the creek a large box.

On the bank adjacent is a large piece of metal

Flip it over and realize it is the door of the box which is actually a safe.

I spent the next 30 minutes digging handful after handful of gold coins and chains, just kidding. Found nothing of value. I have 2 theories. The first theory is that this is just a typical homestead item discarded in the woods, but the site is very clean of large visible farm items. The second theory is that someone robbed a business 60 years ago, threw the locked safe in the bed of their truck, drove to this abandoned farm, hacked open the safe (no one would hear them), took the loot and pushed the safe into the creek.
Maybe?
