I was going to say this hobby shouldn't be a chore. We really shouldn't be "pushing" ourselves to the brink of illness. But, alas,
I've done the very same thing. With me it's staying at it too long in extreme conditions. I started feeling very light headed and looked around to see where
help might come from, the place was empty, for miles! If I hadn't made it to the shade, I very well might not have made it at all.

Anyway, I'm glad you're back and still able to share some very nice saves with us.

Feel better soon!

Your back in the silver mode... Nice job on the wheat's too.

Cool finds..nice pics! looks like a place that has been pounded..so congrats on what finds you did get..despite the heat. Lovely silver..just the one, but that's all it takes for me! I hope the ground was not too awful hard..I will sometimes pass on anything over 4" deep when the ground is solid hardpack...unless it is a super high signal, then I will pursue it..but otherwise, that Wheatie will be there AFTER it rains a little. Cool stuff..thx for sharing..ddf

I know, sometimes its just hard to stop... gotta dig just one more hole and the sun just don't care! hopefully you will be fine. but you did find some nice stuff and silver as well. so other than nearly killing yourself, a pretty good hunt!

Nice digs and thanks for the pictures

Thanks all !
not sure what it was . I was drinking water all the way home.
light headed , head spinning, nauseous ,
I’m still not 100% but had two 1 hour naps so far since I got home.
the hardest part was getting a burger down, and keeping it there before my last nap :tongue3:

ground is getting harder, saw signs of someone else there recently also.
perhaps in the last 2 days.
makes me wonder :tongue3:

the silver was a welcome stranger. been too long :laughing7:

it's rare I push myself like this.
I just wanted to increase my hunt time to at least 2 hours today.
I guess i should have been happy with 90 Minutes

I'm the same way Perses. I just started detecting about 2 weeks ago but I find myself with a headlamp on hunting at night more than the daytime. Nice silver! I haven't found any yet. Just found my first wheat yesterday.

Probably not just the extra time. More than likely a combination of things. But, there's no "Doctor" before the name Whadifind. ;)

My problem is that I used to run marathons and my head still thinks it's 18 years old! My mind still tends to write checks my body can't cash. I'm typically out for around 4 hours! But, I gotta rest for two days! LOL

You just do what you need to, to get better.

nice finds .... drink water BEFORE ya go huntin ...:occasion14: im going wed but only in the shade ....constant 100 + here

Nice Hunt Jeff ! pretty special to cop a 1909 Lincoln , and a merc is always a pleasant sight ! Sounds like you got a wee bit dehydrated
out there - maybe drinking a bit more before the hunt would have helped - Nice finds .

Nice finds. It looks like you got it going on!!!!!

Heat and humidity are the worst for me at 64.I don't mind cold but on days like that I won't hunt.Shade can make it much more tolerable.

pretty much the opposite for me these days.

although Heat and humidity slow me down, I can tolerate it much better then
Low humidity & not enough clouds in the sky. like today
in the sun it was like a Magnifying glass on me. Pure Heat :(

I do think cold is worse though.

but no matter how I look it.
the simple truth is I am way out of shape.
a few short months ago I was ready to do 4 Hour days.
Now I'm killing myself trying to do half that.

getting nauseous again :( I think I'm going to bed :(

Very nice finds. Please take care of yourself.

This time of year I'm at the location I'm going to hunt by 6am and on the way home by 9am. When the sun gets over the top of the trees it's time to head for the A/C. Doesn't matter if I drink lots of water and/or Gatorade if I'm in the sun for much time I start to feel the symptoms of heat stroke and that's scary. My body just can't handle the heat anymore.

Nice finds love the pictures of the area. Silver makes for a better day.

Allow me to remind you about heat stroke by the time you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Lightheaded, nauseous, dizzy these are signs of dehydration, aka bad things happening in your body. I am no doctor, but a former EMT and I have taken many a young college kid from the day on the beach to the night in the ER. So be careful our bodies are all going to die one day no point in rushing it.

Hi Jeff,
Nobody said anything about the 1909 Lincoln being a special find, but I see the "S" there below the date. Your hard work paid off! As dedicated as you are to the MD'ing hobby, I hope you find a real valuable coin or artifact sometime soon. Thanks for the interesting post.
Good Luck,
Phil
