Its been almost three weeks since my last hunt and I was hoping to get out one more time, luckily the weather turned and we got a high in the 40`s on Friday and
it rained all night.

When I got up Saturday morning I went back to the first house on the block I have hunted at least 6-7 times, last time a month or so ago and didn`t find much
of anything. This time it was different as I found three wheat pennys right away and when I went by a small bush I had hit hard earlier I got a booming 27 signal
and was surprised as I thought I had covered this yard with a fine toothed comb the last time out.

When I dug the plug there sitting 7" down was my fourth Merc of the year! And shes a beauty, not a mark on her she looks brand new! Still can`t figure out
how I missed her before, but sure happy I found her this time. This coin is so nice I am considering getting it graded!

After covering the rest of the yard I found a sterling ring and a clad quarter before dark.

Sunday I got up and went to a park in a nearby town I had hunted a bit this summer and found about $2.00 in clad and another silver ring!

It was 24 degrees when I started and the ground started freezing to the point I couldn`t dig some targets by the end of the day, darn season over again.:sadsmiley:

BTW, the city is tearing down this house soon so I`m trying to find all I can before the demo.

Great way to end the year! Congrats!

Looks like some nice finds, as your season is winding down.

Nice saves. Congrats

Congrats on the finds. Your call on sending it in for grading but my opinion would be to not waste your money. From the two pics that you posted, I can see many small scratches on the both the obverse and reverse which would affect the coin grade. Also I do not see any split bands (lines through the bands) on the reverse which is desirable on Merc dimes. Still a beautiful coin which can be admired from within a coin flip to protect it. Hold onto your cash since I do not believe there would be any extra value grading a relatively common Merc (1943D 71,949,000 were minted).

Happy Holidays!

Nice finds, congratulations! :occasion14:

Being such a common date, it wouldn't be worth the cost of getting it graded/slabbed IMO. Nice finds!

Very nice dime, and most of us have returned to a site we think we have hunted out only to be awarded with more goodies.

She's gorgeous. Nice work!!! 🙌 I found a 44D about a week ago that would easily grade AU...but it's just not worth the cost to do a coin that's only worth $9-10...pretty as she is. JMO.

Great hunt that would keep me going a little longer

Great finds. I agree that the expense of grading is too high for this coin.

Very nice finds! I really like the eagle! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:
