I had my three day weekend off and I wanted to get up early and try a few parks in my town and get some good detecting in for once. A whole day of nothing but detecting. Ended up getting a lot of change and some scraps of stuff but no real good items. Went out the next day for a few hours and ended up the same, but with less results. Today it threatened to rain off and on so I stuck close to home and hit a little park over by my home. Found a little tropical fish brooch and some more metal whatsits and change. Nothing much to crow about. I had a real fun time out swinging the detector all the time. I'm pretty sore after the last few days but I would go out again in a heartbeat! LOL

It's official. I really need to find some other spots to hit besides parks. They were fun to go to while I was starting out and learning the detector. I feel like I know my detector pretty well now and can even predict much of what comes out of the ground by the sound it makes. Need to do some serious research and find some spots near me that I can hunt - and that haven't been hit too badly by others before me. Had some serious beginners luck by finding four silver rings, one gold ring and a silver dime the first three weeks I went out - but now the finds are starting to dry up. Must be a dry streak or something.

Thanks for reading my rant. ;D

Heres some photos of my last few outings:

Great assortment of finds...love the fish pin.

 RR

You did great for a beginner. Just detectorist's life is a bit patchy. BTW it's a nomadic hobby - always moving from site to site :D. Nice scalare brooch (the same fish as legendary Wanda). As a kid I was breeding aquarium fish before a relative of mine introduced me to detecting. D%mn him!

If I were you, I'd call the numbers on the Baxter's dog tag to see if they got their dog back!

Nice finds man, your arms must be killing you from all that digging!
