last few day's finds

the way i work i can only get out a few minutes at a time....got off work early sunday and went to where they are widening the highway.....one spot gave up this little aluminum thing... says "tipper" on the lip....went a little further down the road and had to make a pit stop......got MD out and walked across the bulldozed area and crossed the barrier into the woods......after i did my business i took a different direction back to the barrier....found a dump.....didnt have a lot of time , poked around a minute or two....decided there must have been an old house in the spot they bulldozed (before the trees took the spot over) thought i would check this place out better when i had more time.....well to make a long story short i was swinging my way back to the car and got a hit.....made all 3 tones on my Bounty Hunter......dug this little musket ball??? that was my first thought when it popped out then i thought NAHHH my luck isnt that good.....prolly a clay marble with iron center..... please give me an idea as to what you guys think.......ok today i went to several playgrounds in the area and ended up with about $3 in clad ( how do you guys find jewelry at playgrounds?) lol this afternoon i hunted a mexican soccer field beside the old school building they tore down.....found this little copper thing i have no idea what it is has tabs to hold it together and looks like th back is mashed flat. the penny is there for size

Thanx for looking and Good Luck
Marty

Re: last few day's finds

You are smart for taking advantage of every opportunity (no matter how small) to get your detector out and swinging it. I just hope you washed your hands before swinging it after your trip into the woods!!! ;D The "tipper" thing must belong to Mrs. Gore. :D
I think Nana has a post today that also shows a little flattened cap thingy as in your second photo. I've seen similar caps on the hubs of kids' wagons, but I don't know if that is what you have there. Have you washed the ball? Is it clay or just coated in mud/clay?

If you want to find jewelry, go to the park used by the mexican kids. They seem to like to wear lots of jewelry and therefore sometimes lose it. Also check around the soccer field...where there are mexicans there is often jewelry.

yeah i noticed that too

Some of those Bulldozer sites can produce some nice finds!

I try to never pass them up! HH

Nice finds Marty

I only found a dime in the last 3 days, so I gotta keep trying :D :D :D

Re: last few day's finds

whatever you do do not give up...... keep getting out and the finds will come

Re: last few day's finds

Congratulations on the clad count. Pretty decent clad count. I have gotten lucky and found a few pieces of silver jewelry at some woodchip, local school and park areas. I guess it really depends on how many foil, pulltabs, bottle caps, nickels...etc signals you are willing to dig.

Of course it could be like my area as well. It is a poor area here, so I would imagine not too many parents get jewelry for thier kids. So the pickens are kinda slim here, perhaps that is what is going on in your area?

Good luck, hope you can start finding some jewerly.

Re: last few day's finds

I found two of those 'tipper' things. ??? I don't know what they are either... but one I found has a string going through the hole. ??? And the 'tipper' name on mine is sideways... I dunno. And that looks like a musketball to me!

Glad you are able to get out a bit :)

Nana :)
