We found it at a site where we found confederate cavalry relics in the past.

Georgia stamped on the stirrup.

The R is missing beause they ran out of room, but this has been seen before on state stamped stirrups.

This is only the 3rd I know of or have ever heard about, so if anyone has seen anymore please tell me.

Congrats. Heck of a find.

Very nice....... i like that spelling

Why is there no 'R' in Geo[r]gia?

Seems odd that the “R” would be omitted. And the “G’s” look like “C’s”. Time to research.

That is an amazing find. I've heard f the state stamped stirrups. My brother told me about some in an identification book he has. I'll ask him about the misspellings and all. I hoped to find one with a state stamping at the Kentucky cavalry camp I found, but so far all was just plain, iron stirrups and broken pieces of those. These have got to be super-rare as I've never seen one posted dug anywhere.

Very nice relic find, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Looks like a once in a lifetime type civil war find! Congrats on it!!!!
