Shaun7 joined me for this final hunt of '08. Its my 2nd Fav field & hasn't been planted yet due to wet weather.
We started at just after 0800 (see pictures of frost).

Within 5 mins I had the 2 roman coins I needed to make 500 for the year. (finished on 510)

I got a rare Roman Silver (for this field) of Gallienus AD253-268

Cru'dad joined us after Lunch & although he got no roman coins he did get a Hammered Halfgroat of the Commonwealth.

12 Roman Coins
6 Lead Tokens
4 17th Century Tokens
Poor Medieval Horse Pendant
Medieval Buckle
Lovely guilded Todor leather Decoration
& a few buttons

So finished on a high, I will post year totals when I get time....

Great, Great finds. Really like all the pictures. Thanks!

Sure would like to come over your way sometime and dig a Roman coin. That would be Fantastic.

HH, Ringfinder

P.S.

Best of Luck to you in the New Year!

Nice finds Cru, the field looks indeed like what it did in Sept, only the stubble has rotted away and is much lower. There were parts of that field that never had been correctly searched. What is you button count for the year, it would be nice to know. I would image in the thousands for sure, maybe even 4 figures?

Shaun, where are you? Watta find? Let us see...

Have a good evening all of you guys and until next year.... (here still frozen solid -5 to -7 outside, tomorrow even colder). I am surprised that it is not freezing in England!

No idea on button count, maybe I will count in '09 in your honour :)

That XP just sucks up Roman Coins.
As you say the stubble is now easy to work & the settled & wet conditions are perfect for deeper finds.

Shaun did good with the Lobo (until it started playing up due to water on the coil) but he is still travelling home. I have some before cleaned pictures of his stuff but I will add them to his post later.

Don't think it will be water on the coil :icon_scratch: has he got a cover on the controll box, these were noted for letting in moisture if you hadn't one on.
