I drove around yesterday, planted, planting, planted......
I went down to the another end of the farm.

Just walked up to the site, here came the tractor to tickle 4 inches of the soil.

Quick catch up chat, detected for 3.5 hrs.

A few things from this hard hit spot. Trying different programs that folks swear buy that are the best in heavy iron.
Jury is still debating on the results.

1881 LC, A Bug, 4" sad iron, hammer, weird rock, another part of the Tomback bell I have been digging for yrs
A president suspender clip.
Usual array of homestead stuff.

Great finds - the Large Cent is in beautiful condition !

As far as programs go, I'm 100% sold on the "Tekkna" program.
Didn't try the "Legacy" program yet but I know a lot of people really like it.
It's like the old argument - what's better a Ford, a Chevy or a Dodge - there really is no correct answer.
I think the best program is the one the operator is really "tuned into" - that just takes time.

I went over the the same ground using the Tekkna, then switched over to the other programs to see if they heard the signal.

Then I would detect for a while in one of tge other programs, check when I got a signal.

The sad iron and hammer wasn't a Tekkna signal. Both were a solid 52, all directions.
But I wanted to see what they were even though the X/Y was saying iron, Tekkna was grunting.
That setting might come in handy for iron relics.
In that setting it did pick up a couple of surface brass pieces, where the Tekkna really struggled.
The watch frame, LC, spoon came after the farmer scratched up the area.
The LC had 6 nails in the loose dirt around it, when I used the magnet.
I wanted to clean up a few sites before the new coil arrives so then I can test it's abilities later this year.
I have 10 sites ready to test it on.

I believe the hammer may be part of a vintage adjustable wrench. Had a couple like that. Should have kept 'em.

I hate when the fields are all planted up.
Your hammer is actually a pipe wrench piece
It's a long 4 months now till the crops come off.
Though the ones planted in winter wheat is early August.
Thanks for the ID
