Today I went into a new thrift that I have never been in. I mostly source materials for my artwork, but am always on the lookout for my collections and other interesting finds. I had picked out a number of items from the jewelry case for my artwork, and sifted through the rest of the store. I only found a few minor things. Going to the register I changed my mind about one of the jewelry pieces I had. Not wanting the lady to have to unlock and replace for nothing, I asked her to switch it with a hammered wire (brass, I thought) brooch. I have some hammered copper wire brooches from my long ago art school days and thought this would be a good accompaniment. I didn't have my loupe so I didn't examine the piece.
Once I got home I discovered markings on the back. I can't read the hallmark, but it's marked 14K. Now, I would have to get it tested to be sure - but still excited about the possibility!
