I haven't posted since before Christmas, and haven't got to hunt much either. I was able to squeeze in two hunts last week. I found quite a bit of stuff on the second hunt, but was constantly harassed by German civilians and finally had the Forrest Meister called on me. He told me that it was forbidden to dig in public forrest and has been for 20 years because it is bad for the trees. Tyring to keep my cool I calmly explained to him that not only have I talked to germans that said that they dig in the area I have seen them dig in the area. I also said that I always fill in my hole and return the area back to they way I found it and many time fill in hole left by the germans. After my brief explanation he said that it was fine with him and that he would not say anything to "the big boss". After that I moved further away from the trail that all the Germans use and continued my hunt with the scaring of only one more german who stared at me for about five minutes and then ran back towards the parking lot (weird!). I think he thought I was burying bodies in the woods or something. I have found some pretty good finds, but I think that I am going to move to a more remote area so I won't get hassled so much. Anyways here are my finds plus some. The State Quarter is for size reference.

3 forged horse shoe pieces and a broken forged hook that I found in the depths that I find Napoleonic stuff.

4 cannonball fragments, 2 steel shot, and 7 musket balls from the Napoleon battle.

Assorted German and American shells. A U.S. enlisted collar device. The front of a button off a German uniform. A badly distorted and corroded rifle bullet, and 3 German 9mil bullets.

Some pieces of shrapnel that I decided to keep.

A whatsit. Two pieces off an old bracket of some sort. 2 bases off of old paper shot gun shells. An old brass button. A modern bullet and .22 shell. Either an old pocket knife or straight razor. And another whatsit.

A 1946 dime, and a 1924 Deutsches Reich pfennig.

I got these from an old German guy that I know the other day. A German War Merit Cross 2nd Class. A 1934 5 Reichsmark, and a 1939 2 Reichsmark.

We need to link up before they send me down range in the next month or so. Most of the forest meisters are pretty cool as long as you bury the holes, take the junk/trash out you find. One even gave me info of where to dig hehe. It also depends on where you are located. In the sarrland area, they don't like you digging at all.. but I havne't had any problems yet. I had the same thing happen to me with a local, saying I was hurting the trees when I chopped some roots in my hole (ive seen people cutting down limbs, so I don't think a few roots wouldn't hurt the trees too much). You found a LOT of cannonball chunks and some awesome ww2 stuff. I'd like to hunt in that area. More remote places are better since there is less trash, and less people. I know of a lot of new places out by me yielding some good stuff.

Keep some of the whatisits for awhile, bec later on you might find out what they are. Never found any american coins yet. Keep it up and keep me informed. Maybe we can go hunt sometime here soon (if it isn't too cold and windy) :)

Cool Stuff!!

The two bracket parts next to your whatsit is part of a bicycle seat post clamp.

Good job! very nice assortment.
