Here's a late 18th century pewter button I found in Vicksburg area when a creek was being prepped for flood control. I detected it in the mud. I was told it dates to circa. 1780 but I'm open to any other opinions.
It's a one piece with a distinct scissor mold seam on the back. I'm told that is a distinguishing characteristic in dating this type button.
