I found an Eva point yesterday in Hinds county Mississippi. It has very nice workmanship and basal notched. It's getting pretty hot and dry so I was lucky to have found this one.
I want to change my identification of this projectile point. It is actually a Ponchartrain Point - circa. 1,500 B.C. - 0 A.D.
I took it to an archaeologist and he corrected me.
My son found a point on his property in S IL 4500 years old according to an archeologist. He has a creek running through it and after every thunderstorm and high water they find more points. There are traces of an Indian camp on his property guesstimated around 1750+ or - 50 years.
I was a participant in an archaeological survey done years ago in south Mississippi and we identified sites and artifacts going back 10,000 years. It's mind-blowing to think how long man has been in Mississippi alone. No wonder we find so many artifacts from his activities for so long a time period.
