Late night copper hunters, thanks for taking my Labor Day away

Why would someone outright blame treasure hunters on this? This was obviously thieves who were just looking for copper to steal. Most treasure hunters I know are actually really nice and would never do something like that.

You know that we all know that. But it's sad to say we're highly visable and people who don't understand seem to point the finger at us. Plus the one or two who do cause damage or leave a mess behind doesn't help. Nobody remembers the guy with the detector placing a three or four handfuls of trash in the trash can, but they always seem to remember the guy that left all the holes.

Probably someone trying to get drug money so they could get their fix. Sad.
