Hi All,

I dug this object on an old mining road (1900s) near San Rafael. It is some kind of advertising gimmick for the "Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Co" Appears to be lead around the perimeter, steel on one side, copper on the other. All of the writing is stuff like "stamps, bagdes, metals, seals, stencils, watchman's clock," etc....

Almost 3 inches in diameter, about 1/4 inch thick, and weighs, 143.3 grams.

I was hoping that someone here knows what this is, and how they were given out.

Thanks all!!

Remember those little round aluminum tokens you could print your own good luck piece at the fair or carnival? Well, it looks like the die from one of those machines with the alphabet and numbers 1 to 9. I'm guessing that it was made by the LA Rubber Stamp company. Monty

Re: lead advertising drink coaster??

By the size and extreme weight, I think you found the base from an office needle.

There would have been a thin metal rod about 8" long that was fastened through it's base
and it would be used for "stacking" paper receipts. . . that thing probably caused
more puncture wounds to the hands of office workers than anything else around :o

At it's time, that was a perfect advertising premium because it was most likely
something you would keep handy on your desk and use on a daily basis.

Cool find!

Thanks All,

It does seems to be that it would be a paperweight or a paper holder as it does have a center hole.

Very Cool!!!
