....no, guess not. You can probably see why I was so excited. I wasn't thinking about the size not being right at the time, I just saw the lead backed disk and thought this has got to be the breast plate I've been looking for. It wasn't to be. Anybody recognize the design? There's a tiny six sided star in the very center that's hard to see in the pic, the inner ring is about the size of a silver dollar.

It looks to me like a civilian bridle rosette.
That is a cool item.

Agreed

I really know better than to disagree without pictures but I will post a picture as soon as my camera battery is charged. I found a dodge brothers radiator cap a couple of years ago that resembles your find but not perfectly. I have seen some others that are different. Look closely to see if you find any letters around the outside of the ring which will say someting like dodge brothers.......detroit usa. I will post a picture in less than an hour. Best of luck and great find........HH......gregd573

A couple of photos as promised........hope we figure out what you have there.....lol.

Thats pretty neat gregd573. Gregd573 is the back of the radiator cap lead filled also?

Sorry about that jonnyreb, I forgot to put on pictures of the back. It is not lead filled but it has a spot which shows that it was attached to something. I think........I THINK......this is just a pertty piece of metal which was atrtached to the actual radiator cap.

Happy Hunting All,
