Found these two lead objects in the woods of Rhode Island today. Maybe half a mile from one another. Would love to know the purpose of them.

The W.P. Stamped piece has a hole punched through the top almost like it would be hung from something.

The “brick” has three quarter sized circles pressed into the top.

The piece with the hole was likely a fishing weight (unless its a lot bigger than it seems). The brick could have been for a lot of things, but it seems like someone was hammering on it a lot.

It’s 3 inches long and 1 to 1 and 1/2 inches wide. Weighs almost a pound.

as stated by Bradyboy lead was used by plumbers and also roofers and tinsmiths . lead ingots are still made and sold today.

The big block, because of the rounded end and hammered surface, looks to be part of an ingot that was used as a "soft blow". A soft blow is used for hammering on something delicate with damaging it. Maybe from an old blacksmith shop?

Agreed. ... And the "hammer" was more than likely brass... or bronze.

I thought it was a bar of silver for a second. Never found a bar of lead in the middle of the woods before lol.
