Lead Caps?

I?ve been finding quite a few of these recently near old colonial homesites.
Any ideas what they could be? They are small in size no bigger than 3/8” round.

I?ve found a handful of those all in the same spot and it was across from 1800?s shotgun style houses in Pensacola.

They look like caps that went on roofing nails. When installing a metal roof, you would pound the nail down and the lead would seal it against rain.
