from the reign of elizabeth 1, a plot of land of 40 acres was given to a local earl, along with a lead & tin mine, do you think dowsing could locate it

Yes, dowsing can be used to locate tin/lead mines.

found a sign nr the water quarry, i found finally today, saying TO THE GOLD MINE, after following, found the 220ft deep shaft bricked over, and the top made into a directions information place, prob to prevent the tourists disappearing.. , still looking for tin/silver mine
