✅ SOLVED Lead w/great patina, looks like line level

Found this lead thing the hooks on it look like a line level attachment; like a string would go through it but I don't think it is a fishing sinker. Maybe used to keep a line from moving in the wind? Somebody out there knows; thanks for any clue. That much oxidation didn't happen overnight. I should have put a penny in the pic but it is 2" long.

There you have it. I guess the sliding sinker is to be near the hook when casting but the (live)bait is still able to move about after the cast? Whatever the case you're right. Thanks.

That's some old lead there. That sinker has been lost for a looong time. Cool recovery. I don't get too many like that one.

The ears once they are bent over keep it from sliding, those type sinkers stay in place when crimped on the line...d2
