No, I didn't dig this up, but I bought it. I think that it is a key date.

Great buy. I had to edit my post as I looked at the wrong entry in the Red Book ( oops! ).

1886 Liberty Head V Nickel

Mint Mark: No mint mark

Total Produced: 3,326,000 [?]

Silver Content: 0%
Numismatic Value: $259 to $1861
Value: As a rough estimate of this coins value you can assume this coin in poor condition will be valued at somewhere around $259, while one in "perfect" condition can bring $1861. This price does not reference any standard coin grading scale. So when we say poor, we mean worn more than would be expected from a coin in this age, and perfect meaning it looks "perfect" without flaw and possibly even certified. [?].

Additional Info: 3942 proof liberty head nickels coins were issued this year and they are worth about $300

Always nice to add a good coin to one's collection. Next to the Flying Eagle Cent, this another of my favorite coins to find.

Nice add!

I thought it was a good coin, but I wanted a second opinion. I bought it in a small bag of very poor V nickels. My intent was to bury them and practice swinging over them. I'm almost afraid to say exactly what I paid, because it is unreal. I got many times my money back on a couple of good common dated ones. I bought these without knowing the prices of any of them.
I also bought two 1883 "cent" V nickels for $50. They are in fine condition. I wished they still made coins that re as good looking as these and the Barbers. They probably want to produce less good looking coins to keep people from hoarding them.
