It appears to be a nude woman holding up a sheet.
A somewhat rusty one, so it is either metal, or was near some rusty object, (or both).

Can you tell what its made out of?
Are there any markings on it?
Will it stay standing on its own feet?

Hey there Functional!

I can't tell what type of metal it is...it's only rusted in the front part which makes me think there might have been something attached there or there's a missing piece. It's heavy like lead but "tings" like tin or aluminum.

The feet are slanted down at a 45 degree, and there's no markings on it.....maybe just an ornament somebody had on their mailbox??

I don't see any holes for it to be screwed onto something else, unless they are really small. Have you taken a magnifying glass to inspect it closely? (Or are you worried the neighbors will see you?) ;D

Should really inspect it carefully for marks, holes, whatever. From the looks of it, it may have been guilded at one time, but if you find it has value and want to sell it at a respectable auction house, don't get it reguilded, or painted, etc.

If there were holes somewhere on it, I'd think it could be a ceramic. Could be zinc, tin, silver, etc. Impossible to tell from here. Have you checked it with a magnet? If all else fails try taking it to a goldsmith/jeweler. They can tell you in minutes if its metal and what kind.

Not sure, but she sure has a nice butt. Nice find.

I really like it....maybe its part of a windchime or something that would spin....the way she is holding the sheets just makes it look like the wind should turn it....

She appears to be Levitating, or getting ready to perform a dissapearing trick.

I think DG is right,Art Nouveau calling card tray.I have had several ashtrays with a very similar design but made from brass.

calling card tray seems to be the concensus, but I'd like to know why both sides seem to have been designed to be veiwed. I'll wager that careful inspection with a magnifting glass would either confirm or deny her attachment to something else with solder. Maybe an ornate victorian clock ? :-\

I had several "Naughty" trays at one time....small silver, copper and aluminum trays that when turned over gave you a "suprise". I think these were very vogue at one time .

Here's a fairly similar example (dress, not sheet) in cast iron, listed as an ashtray:

Weren't those Victorian folks something?!? I thought they were very repressed... until I saw some of the same 'naughty' items from that period. I remember a table figurine of a very beautiful woman, eyes closed, head back - who was submerged in water in a claw foot bathtub. It was an entirely "normal" representation of a bathing scene - until your eyes fell on the devil head that had poked up from the same bath water and was staring intently at her! Eeeek! Very creepy!

Yep the victorians were something along those lines did you know that they actually had :-[ how to say: adult 3d devices...you had to go to the doctor for use of one and they called it "curing woman hysteria". :o

Sup guys thanks for all the posts!

Went and hit up the same spot tonight but just found some ol' trash out there. Took another look at the lady with a magnify glass but couldn't find any markings on her, that brassy butt sure is shiny under the scope though ;D! Thanks for the posts about Art Navou definately seems to be the ticket. Too bad there isn't a way to date it. I just got done trying to google it 18 different ways and couldn't find an exact match. My buddy and I were messing around the lil lady and it just doesn't seem to sit level like an ashtray should. I could be wrong though...anyways thanks for all the posts if anybody runs across anything else let me know!
