Well my bank apparently forgot to order my two boxes of halves today so instead bought a $1000 quarter bag which was a waste of time of course. Exchanged them and picked up 4 boxes of dimes which produced 2 silvers in each box for a total of 7 rosies and 1 merc. Exchanged them and this bank only would give me 3 boxes of dimes but was offered a $200 bag of nickels. I've never done nickels before so I'll give it a try. I just got back and will start breaking the nickels, will update if/when I find anything.

I predict 3 silver war nickels, 1 dateless Buffalo and 1 Canadian .999Ni nickel.

I'm guessing 3 war nickels, 0 Buffalo, 4 pure Canadian, 1 clipped planchet.

About 1/2 way done with the nickel bag - so far 1 1943 war nickel 1 1934 buffalo and about 25 pre 1960s

I got a few canadian and other country coins too...which canadians should I look out for?

1944 war nickel

Pure nickel Canadian nickels are hard/nearly impossible to find in bags because just about every coin counter has a magnet. Unless the coins were dumped in really fast or another coin managed to dislodge it, you aren't going to find it.

You guys are good, ended up with 3 war nickels and 1 buffalo. I found 2 1942s with no P on the back, those are not silver right?

Right, in 1942, they made nickels for part of the year before they started minting the silver war nickels. All silver nickels will have the mintmark over the dome. I come across quite a bit of the regular 1942s and only a few silver. It also seems like almost half of all the war nickels that I do find are 1943P's.

Good job on the dimes and nickels, that is about my good average, 2 dimes and 1 war nickel per box, I'm happy if I find at least that.

Keep in mind though if you can find a 1944 nickel with no mintmark, it is a "Henning Nickel" a counterfeit nickel. They are quite collectible in their own right and worth much more than a war nickel. See this site for more info: Henning Counterfeit Nickel

The plan was to go through 16 boxes of dimes today, only made it through 7 and produced 10 silvers. Took me forever to go through those nickels and quarters.

The war nickels are 1943P, 1944P and 1944P

I regularly get bags from my Credit Union that are loaded with Nickel and Steel coins (Early Canadian; Modern Canadian; Euro, etc). Where I dump, I always ask if they'll make sure nothing stuck to the magnet. I know that anything that might be there isn't from my dump, but I ask anyway. Occasionally, they will find Canadian or Euro and give it to me. It depends on the machine if there is a magnet or not. I agree that more often there is a magnet than not.

It just depends on the coin machine.

You're not picking up and exchanging all at the same bank, right?

I've done lots of nickels I got five 35% war Nickles but no buffalo yet...

What were the other coins? I can tell you whether they have value, or are just conversation pieces.
