I couldn’t find anything on either one. I dug these at a plantation house, I sure love a good old lock!

Looks like a tag to an old carbide lamp like they used in mines

I really like the lock. Congrats on the finds.

That lock is cool, I’m likin’ the other stuff too whatever it is

What is the other stuff ,Nice finds

Welcome also Tommy

The box with the coins on it could have been a cigarette case.

Killer finds! Both are awesome relics

Looks like some nice old relics. I also like to find old padlocks, you can make a great display case with them.

Greetings Ringer,

Cool finds! The tag is from an acetylene generator. That's basically a large high pressure tank where calcium carbide is mixed with filtered water. The resulting chemical reaction forms acetylene gas which is used in oxy acetylene welding and cutting. I encountered one of these at a welding school in Nashville, Tenn in the early seventies. A really large welding/fabricating shop might have had one too.

Congrats and best wishes!

Thanks Reanm8er for the info!

Very cool plate. I would be hanging that on the wall.

Very nice finds. Congrats

I believe this particular generator was for a large house or apartment / office building for Acetylene lamps. Maximum capacity was 50 lamps with 6 inch flame

Thanks Randy, I never thought of that but I guess there were plenty of people who didn't have natural gas service available. The gas generator would be like an emergency light plant today.

Wicked dangerous. If you left the spout open with no flame and filled a room with acetylene One spark could level half the block!

Very cool finds! :icon_thumleft: That padlock is really neat.
