Long Beach Grand Prix Commemorative Coin

I recently came across this coin while moving. I vaguely remember a friend giving it to me around 15 years ago. I must have stuck it in the box and forgot it. Nice surprise.
Anyway, I've Googled myself silly and can't find a single reference to this coin. I did find a silver one on ebay, but it isn't showing on their completed listings anymore. It was identical to mine other than being silver and saying" one ounce of fine silver .999". The wife says mine looks like real gold to her. I'm guessing plated at best.
If anyone has a clue I'd love to hear it.
