Hi, In the 70's I had a White's metal detector. Now that I am retired I would like to buy another detector primarily for LI beaches and relic hunting in the woods. Used detectors that are totally waterproof are hard to come by, but I keep looking. I believe a $40. metal detecting permit is required for state beaches & parks. Is this permit something that I must get? Please advise and thank you in advance.
