I decided I wanted to grid an area of a field which have never done. It's over 1000m from the nearest Roman Site but its on the edge of a field that I have been gridding for a couple of years, so for completeness I wanted to finish it. (still some way to go) My main hope was this field has produced 2 random Celtic Silvers (& 1 Gold to the previous resident detectorist), a long way a part, so you never know...
I gridded for over 4 hours before I got my first Silver hammered. Cru'dad got his 3 pence just after the 1st hour.
6 Hours detecting for me & 4 Hours to Cru'dad:

Nice early train Button (only my 2nd or 3rd of this type)
2 Bits of scrap silver
1 Roman Coin
17th C Thimble
18th C Clog Clasp
1858 3 Pence
Circa 1200 King John Penny (moneyer I need)

Nice day out for sure ! I love the train button ! and what's not to like about old silver ?!

Those are some insane finds!! Especially that Robin-Hood era silver!! Outstanding!!!

I really like that train button and the penny. Great hunt!

That King John hammered is a beauty. I can only dream of digging such a coin!

Congratulations,

Buck

Thanks all.

I too was pleased with the train button when I dug it, all the others were plain.

The hammered is better than average for a coin of John in my collection, so it was a worthwhile 6 hour session. Longest in awhile dues to the much milder conditions.
