Look at what the smelly lake has done to my silver finds 'NOT GOOD' LOL

Hi all, Last night i went back to the local lake which has not dropped any more ,even tho the temp has been hot.I have no intention fo going anyware near the water that is still left in the lake. The smell is just wrong :P :P :P
I did find a few coins last night but whatever has run off into the lake from storm water has just killed my finds.Check out the silver coins.Australian silver was 96% silver up too 1936.The Copper pennies are english and australian, they are in no better condition.

I found a bunch of silver coins somewhere around 25 yrs ago. They had drained a large swimming area called big ridge state park to repair the dam. All of the silver coins I found was black and the mud was about knee deep where I found the coins around the raft that was sitting in the mud. All of the gold rings had not tarnished a bit though.

Hi all, The back ground is a hand-made red clay brick which there are plenty of them around here.hand-made bricks where the most common brick used between 1863 -1930

Congrats on the silver! I found a 1752 coin in a drained lake, it was very black but it cleaned up nicely. HH, Mike

Nice group of finds, WTG!!!
I have only been hunting near the water one time, along the edge of a creek, and the only coin I found there was a 57 Roosevelt. It's about in the same condition... I think the wet conditions must tarnish the silver pretty quick...
Here's a pic of the coin:

Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Re: Look at what the smelly lake has done to my silver finds 'NOT GOOD' LOL

this is an odd question maybe no one has ever asked :-\
but do you have "hot"ground out your way say iron and minerals at high levels
as opposed to us here were we have loamy black dirt soil ???
teach us about the hot ground so we can learn to hunt better
if thats at all possible,so.......
its pretty clayish I'm guesssing and real sticky when its wet
i just want to learn how to be a better hunter in hot ground
little deep flecks on iron that false out because of the hallow etc .....
i want to learn beter
by the way good coin score ;D
