The pay streak I've been dredging has petered out so I went into prospecting mode. I dredged many, many sample holes trying to find hardpack but in a 1/4 mile stretch all I found was sand below the top layer of stream bed and clay below. No paying quantities of gold. But in one of my sample holes that I punched down below 6" stream bed, 12" of sand and 24" of clay I came across rusted looking clay on top of bedrock. I expanded my hole and found this sitting on top of bedrock. It's not valuable but does date back to the late 1890's I believe.
It's kind of cool I think.
